Data Orchestration

Put data where you need it, when you need it there. DeepSpace orchestration tools allow data to be directed to client file systems, or provisioned as needed to anywhere, within seconds. Complex workflows can be automated and data only moves when you tell it to. Send millions of files to client system in minutes. Thinly provision systems and only move data upon access.

  • Just-in-time Data Movement to any Media or Object Store
  • Rule Based Data Placement
  • Hierarchical Storage Management
  • File System Pre-Population by SQL query
  • File System Replication
  • File System Federation
  • Data Synchronization across Heterogenous Systems

Data Protection

What good is a data management system if it doesn’t protect your data? DeepSpace creates copies, checks file integrity, and monitors media for errors. Storage classes allow processes to maintain media as needed based on the class of storage.

  • Backup/Archive
  • File Versioning
  • Continuous Data Protection (client level automated instant protection)
  • Point-in-Time Recovery (without complicated snapshot routines)
  • Ransomware protection with instant rollback (by file or entire client file systems)

Enterprise Data Management

Metadata attributes, extended attributes, data access logs and more are stored in DeepSpace which are quarriable and actionable.

  • Cataloged Data Services
  • File Indexing
  • Global Data View
  • Compliance
  • Capacity and Usage Statistics
  • Real-Time Data Cost Models

Automate Data Migration

DeepSpace automates data and media migration tasks. A rules-based approach to complete data lifecycle management tasks. Never again do you need to schedule downtime for data migration or create complex data access contingencies during migration as DeepSpace always maintains data referential integrity at all times.

  • To and From ANY Media or Object Store
  • Legacy Media and Automated Tape Library Support
  • Continuous Media Migration (rules based)
  • Decommission Storage and Digital Shred by Policy

Systems Managed Storage /
Storage Resource Broker

DeepSpace has taken the mainframe concept of Systems Managed Storage (SMS) and for the first time ever, is available to a Unix/Linux system. Now you have control of the underlying distributed storage systems with near real-time data analytics on processes running on the DS nodes. Media health and status statistics are evaluated and tunable rules sets determine actions to be taken and/or reported to dashboards for administrators to respond to. Media is brokered to other DS nodes or client systems as needed and queued in the event of device contention.

  • Distributed Data Management Services
  • Third Party Data Movement (clients do not move data between DS nodes)
  • Pool Heterogenous Storage Resources
  • Network Storage Broker (transactional)
    • Attach and Detach Storage Resources as Needed Around the Enterprise
  • Automated Ceph Cluster Deployment
    • Increased Ceph Performance (direct librados layer interaction)
  • System Health & Status
    • S.M.A.R.T., SCSI Enclosure Services (SES)
    • Simplified Device Management
    • Point and Click Drive Replacement
  • Automated Media Management
  • With Seagate Media/Enclosures
    • FIPS 140-2 Drive Support
    • Common Criteria Media Support
  • Cold/Offline Media
    • Cataloged data recall with media on shelf or at DR facility
    • Powerup sequence to ready data on powered-off media

Media Support

DeepSpace can support almost all storage paradigms encountered in a modern data center. What it doesn’t currently support can be quickly incorporated within the system based on the storage class structure concepts within DeepSpace. Automated test suites allow for fast regression testing of new media type support.

  • NVMeoF device services
    • Steer devices to clients as authorized
    • Automated provisioning
  • On premises SDS (software defined storage)
    • Ceph and other object systems
  • Raw Disks in JBODs (SAS, SATA, FC)
  • Intelligent JBOD’s (compute embedded arrays)
  • Channel connected devices (iSCSI, FC, IB)
  • Automated Libraries
    • Tape and other media changers
  • Cloud devices (S3, REST and the like interfaces)

Client Interfaces

  • NFS, CIFS
  • SCP, sFTP, HTTPs
  • Linux compatible file systems*
  • S3, Blob
  • C-API
